This week’s ‘Ferncast’ podcast features Graham Biggs MBE, chief executive of the Rural Services Network (RSN) on the cost of living in rural areas.
The RSN has released a new report on the cost of rural living, a first of its kind since the pandemic and economic shocks in the global economy.
Daniel Rad interviewed Graham Biggs on the new report and what the current issues in global crises from food to energy mean for rural communities.
The study, by the Rural Services Network, says those in the countryside are spending much more on essentials like heating, transport and housing.
Facing “significantly higher” costs, they earn “much less” than their urban counterparts, the report found.
